Beta-oxidation

Beta-oxidation or β-oxidation is a mitochondrial aerobic process that breaks down fatty acids, which allows energy to be provided from fats.[1][2] Beta-oxidation provides a main source of ATP for both the heart and skeletal muscle.[3][4]
