Category:Mental disorders
Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) have never been classified as mental disorders or a mental illness, the World Health Organization (WHO) classifies both as neurological disorders, and they do not appear in the American Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental and Behavioral Disorders (DSM),[citation needed] however ME/CFS is often poorly understood and can be mistaken for a mental health condition involving unhelpful illness beliefs and behavioral "symptoms".
Any person can develop a mental illness, including people with ME/CFS, for example depression and anxiety.
