ME/CFS Monster Study

The ME/CFS Monster Study, officially titled Microbial Discovery and Immunity in ME/CFS, is a wide-ranging study by Drs Ian Lipkin and Mady Hornig at the Center for Infection and Immunity to investigate the bacterial, fungal or viral microflora in the oropharynx (mouth and throat regions), lower gastrointestinal tract (gut) and blood of ME/CFS patients, looking for for evidence of differences in immune system and metabolic function. Funding[edit | edit source]
$1.5 million was raised by the Microbe Discovery Project to fund the early stages of this research. A further $5 million is required in order to test and analyze the stored samples. [1]
