A muscle biopsy is a clinical procedure to remove a sample of muscle for examination. Numerous abnormalities of myalgic encephalomyelitis and chronic fatigue syndrome patients have been found, including evidence of persistent enteroviral infection, including Coxsackie B as well as mitochondrial abnormalities.
