Nervous system

The nervous system is the part of an animal's body that coordinates its voluntary and involuntary actions and transmits signals to and from different parts of its body. Neuroinflammation, autonomic nervous system dysfunction, and intracranial hypertension are all thought to contribute to the symptoms of ME. (more...)

Microglia are a type of glial cell located in the brain and spinal cord. They are the resident macrophages of the central nervous system scavenging dead or damaged cells or encircling them when the brain is injured or infected. (more...)

Alan R. Light, Phd., is a Research Professor of Anesthesiology, Neurobiology and Anatomy at the Interdepartmental Program in Neuroscience at the University of Utah. He studies the neurobiology of pain and fatigue enhancement caused by injury and in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. Professor Light and his wife.
