Simon John Duffy, PhD, (in moral philosophy) is the director of the Citizen Network in Sheffield, UK, which is a network of researchers who focus on matters of social justice. He is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham’s Health Service Management Centre.[1] In 2008, he won the Albert Medal of the Royal Society of Arts for social innovation.[2][3] He has championed deinstitutionalisation in order to reform mental hospitals and opposes the Department for Work and Pensions in an effort to improve the welfare system.[4]

Dr. Duffy has become a vocal critic of the PACE trial, writing in his Huffington Post blog on April 20, 2016 that:"the therapies recommended by the PACE trial are so harmful that, if they were medicines, they would be withdrawn from the market."[5]

Open letter

Dr. Duffy was one of the signatories of an open letter to Psychological Medicine about “recovery” and the PACE trial.
