Sinusitis is an inflammation of the sinuses, which may be caused by an infection. Sinusitis symptoms may include pain from blocked sinuses, a cough, fever, weakness, fatigue, and congestion.

Chronic sinusitis is sinusitis that lasts over 12 weeks, and may even last for years. Possible causes include allergies, nasal problems and certain illnesses. Acute sinusitis, which lasts under four weeks, often begins as a cold but then turns into a bacterial infection.
