Toll-like receptor 4
From MEpedia, a crowd-sourced encyclopedia of ME and CFS science and history
TLR4 (Toll-like receptor 4) is one of ten toll-like receptors.
TLR4 is upregulated in ME/CFS patients.[1]
Infection
Coxsackie B4 triggers TLR4 on human pancreatic cells,[2] TLR4 knock-out mice infected with Coxsackie B3 showed reduced myocarditis and viral replication.[3]
Potential treatments
Low-dose naltrexone (LDN), lithium,[4] and oxymatrine[5] inhibit microglial activation via TLR4.
