The photos were taken during the illness and show his disease progression. They appeared in an article about Whitney written by Stephanie Land and printed in The Huffington Post in March 2016.

I don't think this is a before/after photo. I think he is sick in both.

Long COVID arises from SARS-CoV-2 only and does not describe any case of ME or ME/CFS, especially not cases that were triggered before SARS-CoV-2 existed.
