Iodine

From MEpedia, a crowd-sourced encyclopedia of ME and CFS science and history

Iodine[edit | edit source]

Iodine is naturally present in some foods (for example fish and dairy products) and is an essential nutrient for the human body. It is required for the formation of Thyroxine and Triiodothyronine which are crucial for many biochemical reactions. [1]

Disinfectant uses[edit | edit source]

Iodine-based disinfectants are known as iodophors.[2]
