Garlic (Allium sativum) is an edible plant belonging to the species Allium. It has a long history of being used both for food and medicine.

  • Antifungal agent
  • Antibacterial agent
  • Treatment of Candida

Garlic avoidance[edit | edit source]

  • Garlic lowers blood pressure so should be avoided by people with hypotension.
  • Some people with ME/CFS are sensitive to garlic (both raw and cooked).
  • Garlic can worsen reflux/heartburn.

Costs and availability[edit | edit source]

Garlic can be taken as a liquid, capsule, or fresh. It is widely available at very low cost.
